Joe and I love our beverages just as much as we love food. On this page, you’ll find some of our favorite wines, beers, and other beverages. I’m also hoping this will help me remember what I like when I get to the wine shop, and I’m confronted with three thousand bottles of wine with vaguely familiar names.

Unless otherwise stated, all the wines I mention here are in the $5-$10 price range.

barker-garnacha.jpg Sideshow Garnacha, Spain. This is a velvety dark red with hints of tobacco and raisin. Rich and sensuous.  I thought it reminded me of port, but Joe didn’t agree. It would be good with ham or barbecued red meats.

lindeman-chardonnay.jpgLindemans Chardonnay, South Africa, 2006. A lush, full-bodied Chardonnay with pear and caramel flavors. A good dessert wine, or would pair well with salads or poultry. We enjoyed it with garlic scallops over linguine last night.

dead-guy-ale.jpg Dead Guy Ale, Oregon. This is a spicy, rich ale with a hint of bitter hops. Our friend John brought this over in celebration of his 50th birthday.
