angelawd is my chronicle of the beauty, silliness, hope, and wonder of life. I live in Chicagoland with my superhero husband; I have two daughters in college and two cats that are currently on probation.
I worked in IT, Finance, and Corporate Communications for 20 years. Now I live the sweet life as a freelance writer and photographer. I’m also an Honors College student and part-time literature research analyst at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
I have had fiction and nonfiction work published in Prairie Voices, The Shepherd’s Path, and Insomnia and Poetry; Today’s Christian Woman has purchased another non-fiction article. I am the author of three non-fiction books:
- The Complete Guide to Food Preservation: Step-by-step Instructions on How to Freeze, Dry, and Can and Preserve Food
- How To Open & Operate a Financially Successful Pet Sitting Business
- The Complete Guide to Creating Windowsill Plants: Everything You Need to Know Explained Simply
I have participated in the Christian Writers’ Conferences at Wheaton College from 1998-2002, attended the University of Iowa’s Summer Writing Festival in 2005, 2006, and 2007, and attended the AWP Writer’s Conference in Chicago in February 2009.
My photos are taken with a Sony Alpha 100 DSLR with a Sony 18-70 lens and a Sigma DG 70-300 lens. Sometimes, out of nostalgia, I’ll take some photos with my antique Nikon Nikkormat SLR, using a Nikkor-H 28-50 lens.
“My father says that almost the whole world is asleep. Everybody you know. Everybody you see. Everybody you talk to. He says that only a few people are awake, and they live in a state of constant, total amazement.”

Hi Angela
I’ve been following your blog recently, and love the insight you provide on raising teenagers. I work for Capessa, a women’s web site that deals with everything from health and beauty to parenting and family. We are currently located within Yahoo Health, but are gearing up for a big launch in January. Right now, I am recruiting the web’s best woman bloggers to write twice-monthly blogs for us in their area of specialty, and would love to invite you to write a blog for us, focused on the area of raising teenagers and your experiences. There are a lot of new mom bloggers out there, but not as many who write about raising older kids. I think your opinion is valuable. What this would involve is writing a blog for us every two weeks (or more often if you’d like) that’s around 600-800 words. After you publish it with us, you can publish it on your own blog, because we are not going to own the rights to it. Also, you’d be able to promote your own blog in your bio on our site. I welcome you to check out our current blogroll at http://health.yahoo.com/experts/capessa. Keep in mind that in our new property, the blogger page will be expanded. I look forward to speaking with you further!
